Ode to Allis, Wiessner, & Garlick

When it comes to cracks, Sarah Garlick is your woman. She just can’t get enough of em’! In fact, she may be just as allergic to sport climbing as she is to black flies! No, she is a strong all round climber. My point being, she’d rather climb a dirty, classic, old route any day than go clip bolts at Rumney. (um, can we say RAD?!?!) So I asked her if she’d climb Standard on Cathedral, she agreed without a second thought. Here she is in pink, if only Allis and Wiessner could see this!
Get this: In 1933, William P. Allis did the first ascent of Standard on Cathedral Ledge. It was THE first rock climb up Cathedral Ledge. Then Fritz Wiessner came along that summer and soloed the last few pitches to the top!
