Anne Skidmore is fascinated by people; by what makes them beautiful and distinctive, by what makes them them. That fascination drives her passion to be behind the lens.
Her fundamental truth is that everyone is unique their expression, their space, their style. That truth presides over her focus areas of portrait work and outdoor sports photography. She concentrates on people and their environment, capturing the relationship of the two.
Anne's background in fine art photography provided her a strong eye for shooting and a resilient perspective of the whole. The best image is the result of a subtle integration of lighting, composition, color, and depth. Capturing the best image comes not only from experience, but from shooting over and over again. Anne strives to produce photographs that capture a moment in time and also relate strongly to the viewer "something you want to look back at again and again, and it still intrigues".
Shooting around New England, Anne has come to appreciate the weather, the colors and the people. She never tires of the wealth of subject matter in New Hampshire's mountains, on the Maine seacoast, on the streets of the region's historical port cities, and deep in the wooded hillsides that surround them. She has also found travel beyond these areas to be a vehicle for expanding perspective and a way to share with others the places, people and experiences they have not seen.
Imagine a chameleon, with the versatility and sensitivity to adapt and create. A nervous subject in the studio presents a challenge as much as a stormy wedding day or shooting a rock climber hundreds of feet up on a cliff face in the light of sunrise. The ever shifting challenge of life behind the lens is what gets Anne out of bed every morning.
